LLPG NLPG
The National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) project is a nationally coordinated project, with the aim of compiling a definitive national address list in which all land and property is given a unique identity.
The NLPG, however, is compiled from Local Land and Property Gazetteers (LLPGs) created by individual local authorities, the people best equipped to undertake such a project within their own areas.
Each LLPG that makes up the NLPG conforms to the agreed national standard for the representation of address information, this being British Standard 7666 (BS7666). They also contain such information as grid coordinates, references to source data, a nationally unique property identifier (UPRN) and even property boundaries where available.
But the Council's LLPG project is not simply an initiative to provide central government with a national property register. The main motivation for the London Borough of Hackney is improvement in service delivery. The LLPG will become the corporate/master address database for the entire Council eliminating duplication of effort accross the various departments. It will also be a key tool in the delivery of improved and joined-up services to the Hackney community.
